A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the broom bristles and the lantern glass glow: fill the broom straw with golden yellow and the lantern glass with golden yellow too, leaving the small highlight streaks white.
- 2Color the tree trunk, branch, knot and roots in bark brown, then use caramel tan for the long broom handle.
- 3Fill the leaves and both grass tufts with leaf green, and use dark green for the lowest leaf on the right branch.
- 4Color the bat with medium gray for the head and wings and light gray for the body and muzzle, adding pale pink inside the ears; leave the eye whites white.
- 5Fill the lantern top, base and hanging hook with dark gray, the candle with cream white, the flame with warm orange, and the broom ties with bright red.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of dark gray along the bat wings or bark brown along the trunk for depth, and keep the small stones medium gray.
